Intrusive Thoughts is an education and self-help site. We collect as little as we can, and we never ask you to type an intrusive thought into anything.

The self-check

Your individual answers to the self-check stay in your browser and are never sent to our servers. If you choose to see your full result, we ask for an email address so we can show it and stay in touch. Our email provider, Resend, stores your address with your result type and severity band for occasional course updates. Retaking the check updates those details; it does not undo an earlier unsubscribe. Contact details remain there until you ask us to delete them.

If signup cannot finish, Cloudflare temporarily stores your email, result type, severity band, and delivery status so we can retry. This temporary record is removed when signup finishes or after seven days. We may also keep a copy in a separately configured private contact database; we do not use the public article database for new signup records.

Analytics and cookies

When configured, analytics loads automatically on this site and the course app through Google Tag Manager. We do not currently offer an on-site cookie choice. Analytics may use cookies and identifiers to measure page visits, self-check steps and course purchases. Our self-check analytics events exclude individual answers, result type, severity band, email address and written text. Page visits can still reveal which article topics you read.

The course platform

The course lives on a separate application at app.intrusivethoughts.co. When you create an account there, that platform handles your account and progress data under its own terms.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you gave an email to see your result and no longer want it stored, contact us below. We cancel pending signup retries as part of deletion. If a service is temporarily unavailable, we keep only the details needed to retry deletion for up to seven days. We retain a minimal marker associated with a hashed version of your address to prevent old or repeated signup requests from recreating your contact. It contains no result or readable email address. Unsubscribing stops course update emails; requesting deletion removes your contact details.
